Dave started singing in a children's church choir as a child, and has been in choirs all his life. In college he was not a music major, but sang with the college a cappella choir for three years and took a course in choir directing. He has served as the volunteer choir director at two churches, and led a 10-member a cappella group for 11 years. Upon moving to Capital Manor in April of 2022, he learned that the choir had been shut down due to the pandemic, so he volunteered to start it up again.
